The Perfect Casual Jacket
Having a lighter jacket on hand to throw on as I’m running out the door for that random errand has proven to be a challenge over the years and I’m not sure why. Maybe it was that the style of jacket wasn’t right for my style at the time or maybe it was that I’ve never put any thought into this piece. Whatever the case, a casual jacket is essential for my wardrobe for early fall/spring weather. I ran across this beautiful Utility Jacket by Caslon and bought it.
I’ve tried fleece quarter-zips, bubble jackets, and of course the old faithful denim jacket. I can’t recall ever owning anything utilitarian. I never got into fatigues or cargo stuff. But I have always liked olive green. I love neutrals, especially non-black neutrals. This olive is vibrant with a bit of sheen. The color combined with the structure is what caught my attention. But what I like most is the belt. I really love a belted jacket. It feels odd saying that since I’ve left the cinched waist era behind. I wasn’t quite sure how I would feel about the length. Generally, I don’t like longer jackets and blazers, but this isn’t bad. It’s tunic length and I can handle that. In fact, I think the belt is what makes the length work for me.
It arrived yesterday. I haven’t even taken the tags off yet, but I think I made a good choice. The color and structure are just as beautiful in person. This is my first Caslon purchase. I’ve seen the brand at Nordstrom before, but have never given it much thought or heard anyone speak of it. I’m always a little skeptical of brands that are not known for plus size clothing. Frankly, unless its loose fitting, I always expect it not to fit. But this jacket fits just fine. And I just noticed that it’s now marked down so let me go get this price adjustment.
