About
I started following fashion blogs back in 2008, religiously refreshing posts and soaking up style inspiration. But even then, I often felt like I couldn’t see myself in what was out there. Most of the plus-size bloggers I came across were either apple-shaped or focused heavily on trends. Many were younger, leaning into fast fashion and rapid trend cycles, while I was looking for something different—something that reflected my shape, my style, and my stage in life.
At the time, I was newly midsize and learning how to dress a body that didn’t quite match the mainstream style narratives. Over the years, more brands have expanded their sizes, and new plus-size lines have launched. But even with all those changes, I found myself bumping into the same challenges: fit that didn’t work for a pear shape, styles that didn’t feel versatile or timeless, and a conversation around plus-size fashion that seemed to fade into the background.
That’s where CurvyPlusStyle comes in. This blog is my take on fashion as a curvy, pear-shaped woman who isn’t interested in chasing every trend but who still loves style. I focus on how clothes actually fit, what works for curvy full-figures, and what doesn’t. It’s less about what’s popular and more about what’s practical, wearable, and true to me.
This isn’t my first attempt at blogging (shoutout to my old idea, A+ Style). But this time, it feels different. When I first started CurvyPlusStyle in fall 2023, I treated it like a creative outlet. I wasn’t aiming for perfection—I just enjoyed the process of experimenting with videos, learning how to pose, and seeing myself in a new light. It gave me space to have fun with fashion and step away from the heavier stuff happening in my career and the world.
So here we are: CurvyPlusStyle is part style exploration, part industry observation, and part personal reflection. Most importantly, it’s a reminder that fashion can be lighthearted, fun, and a little bit frivolous—and that’s exactly why it matters.
